A.J. .Burnett gave up 7 runs in 4 innings as Arizona beat the visiting Yankees 10-4. Burnett is 6-6 with a 4.83 ERA.
The AL East: NYY 43-17; Tampa Bay (42-27) and Boston (43-28) are both a 1/2-game back.
The Red Sox visit the Rockies tonight with Jon Lester on the mound. The last time Lester pitched in Colorado, he was replacing the injured Tim Wakefield in the rotation, starting and winning the clinching Game 4 of the 2007 World Series.
Then Lester was more known for his recovery from cancer. Now he is a likely All-Star with an 8-2 record and 3.13 ERA.
Pawtucket starter Michael Bowden continues to pitch better (6 2/3, 6 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 7 K) ... Outfielder Bubba Bell (.293) is making his move, going 3-for-4. He is now batting .452 in his last 10 games.
In this year of the unknown outfielder in Boston, Bell would make a nice addition. While that is not likely, it's good to see Bell having consistent results.
Lowell got only four hits on Monday and first-round draft pick Kolbrin Vitek got three of them.
