The way outfielders have been rotating in and out of the Red Sox lineup, another one could be emerging in Pawtucket.

Bubba Bell (remember him?) has been rising on the statistical chart and, after two more hits on Thursday, is batting .303. The Red Sox will have to be making a decision on Bell, 27 eventually. He is eligible for the Rule V draft this off-season. If Boston does not put Bell on the 40-man roster, he would be taken by another team - and if he keeps up this pace, he will be.

Can you name the nine outfielders the Red Sox have used this year? (The answer is below).

One of those outfielders, Daniel Nava, went 1-for-6 Thursday while batting second in the order. Nava is still batting .350. But Terry Francona may want to keep Nava further down in the order. He was 0-for-3 batting leadoff on June 15.

When not batting first or second, Nava is hitting .419 (13-for-31).

After the Red Sox bullpen got used (and battered) Thursday, Boston may need some help. How about Felix Doubront coming back tonight as an emergency long reliever? He is scheduled to start for Pawtucket.

Adam Mills started for Pawtucket on Thursday (6 1/3 IP, 9 H, 5 R, 2 BB, 2 K). His ERA is 4.25 ... But the pitcher of note was Kason Gabbard in relief. Making his first appearance since April, Gabbard threw a hitless inning (1 K). Gabbard seems to have around forever, but he is only 28.

Lars Anderson (.214) was 2-for-4 and has five hits in two games.

The Sea Dogs took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first, but lost 7-4 ... Stephen Fife (3.84) went 5 innings (4 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 5 K) ... Anthony Rizzo (.245) had two hits.

Caleb Clay (3.89) got the tough-luck loss for Salem (6 2/3 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 4 K).

Tim Wakefield goes for Boston tonight in San Francisco. Clay Buchholz goes Saturday and the big match-up is Sunday: Jon Lester (8-3, 3.03) vs, Tim Lincecum (8-2, 2.86).

With Dustin Pedroia pushing the Red Sox past Colorado, and the Yankees off, both Boston (44-30) and Tampa Bay (43-29) moved within two games of New York (45-27).

Now for the answer to our question. The nine outfielders used by Boston so far are: J.D. Drew, Mike Cameron, Jacoby Ellsbury, Jeremy Hermida, Bill Hall, Josh Reddick, Darnell McDonald, Jonathan Van Every and Daniel Nava.
