Just finished the top of the first inning here at Hadlock Field. Casey Kelly is pounding the strike zone (20 pitches, 16 strikes), but some of the New Hampshire Fisher cats are pounding back, with three doubles.
The sequence: Double, strikeout, double, strikeout, double, strikeout ... one of the doubles was by Travis Snider, here on a rehab assignment. New Hampshire leads 2-0.
While the Sea Dogs are home all week, they will not be seeing Josh Beckett. After his controlled scrimmage today against Gulf Coast League batters, it was announced that Beckett would next pitch Saturday in Pawtucket.
Thew other news in Pawtucket has been reported by some of the Boston outlets: Michael Bowden is moving to the bullpen, apparently to take on a relieving role in Boston.
I'll check back soon.
