Boston again showed little offense, but that is why you pay millions and millions for pitching, right? Daisuke Matsuzaka threw a gem (6 2/3 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 2 BB, 6 K) in a 2-1 Red Sox win in Oakland.
Next up (gulp) is Tim Wakefield (3-8, 5.65).
In Pawtucket, while Jed Lowrie (1-for-3) and Jeremy Hermida (0-for-4, 3 K's) continued their rehab, Lars Anderson (2-for-4) and Josh Reddick (3-for-4) enjoyed good games.
Che-Hsuan Lin (.266) went 3-for-5 for the Sea Dogs ... Kyle Weiland (5-5, 4.12) pitched 5 2/3 innings (5 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 7 K).
Salem's Oscar Tejeda (.315) went 2-for-4.
I'll check back later from Manchester, N.H.
