NEW HIRES

• Steve Mortimer was named president of Junior Achievement of Maine.

Mortimer, of Poland Spring, has more than 25 years of senior executive experience in a wide range of for- and not-for-profit organizations. Since 2002, he has helped more than 150 nonprofits in education, health care, social services, the arts and the environment.

• Paula Watson has joined Bendett & McHugh P.C. as co-managing counsel of its Portland office.

Watson previously worked for TD Bank N.A. and was a vice president and senior counsel. Prior to that, she was a partner at Thompson, Bull, Furey, Bass & MacColl LLC, P.A.

• Anne Ajayi was hired as a supervisor of Transitions at Bedard, a women’s health and cancer care products division of Bedard Pharmacy & Medical Supplies.

• Mike Angis was hired as an environmental engineer at Sevee & Maher Engineers Inc. in Cumberland.

Angis spent the past four years working for a firm in Pennsylvania.

• The following individuals have joined Diversified Business Communications:

Lucy Sullivan was hired as marketing coordinator. Sullivan previously worked for The Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine in Portland.

Betsy Stevens joined the firm as sales coordinator. Most recently, Stevens worked at York High School.

Richard Spies was hired as senior project manager. He was previously employed with Tilson in Portland.

Michael O’Flinn was named conference manager. O’Flinn previously worked at Lime Rock Park LLC.

Justin Slattery joined the firm as a senior accountant. Most recently, Slattery worked for Eagle Point Management.

• Albin, Randall & Bennett, a certified public accounting firm based in Portland, has hired five accountants: Karla Brannen, Polly Everett, Amy Kronenthal, Matthew Marcoullier and Nicole Nadeau.

Brannen, a certified public accountant, has joined the firm as a senior accountant. Prior to joining the firm, Brannen served as a senior staff accountant at Dawson, Smith, Purvis & Bassett P.A. She lives in Portland.

Everett, of Falmouth, was hired as a staff accountant. Most recently, she served as a staff accountant at Smith and Associates; and as a tax intern at Dawson, Smith, Purvis and Bassett P.A.

Kronenthal was also hired as a staff accountant. Most recently, she served as director of finance and human resources for the Migis Hotel Group in Portland. She lives in Portland.

Marcoullier, a certified public accountant, was hired as an assistant senior accountant. Prior to joining the firm, he served as a senior auditor to the State of Maine Department of Audit. He lives in Randolph.

Nadeau, of Westbrook, joined the firm as a staff accountant. Most recently, she served as a tax intern at Dawson, Smith, Purvis & Bassett in Portland.

PROMOTIONS

• Ed Meadows was named director of the Land for Maine’s Future Program.

Meadows has served as acting director since November 2012. He is a former member of the LMF Board. He served as director of the Maine Bureau of Public Lands and was the state’s chief negotiator for LMF acquisitions.

• Stephanie Williams and Anthony Manhart were elected directors and shareholders of Perkins Thompson.

Williams’ practice focuses on commercial litigation, including complex secured transaction matters, foreclosure actions on behalf of large regional and national banks, commercial and retail collections, personal property replevin matters, and commercial and residential evictions.

Manhart’s practice focuses on bankruptcy and creditors’ and debtors’ rights, representation of Chapter 7 trustees and the representation of various parties in formal insolvency and collection proceedings and out-of-court workouts. He also serves on the Panel of Chapter 7 Trustees for the District of Maine.

• Dr. Mandie Wehr, Coastal Humane Society’s full-time veterinarian, will assume the title of director of shelter operations at the Brunswick facility. Wehr also will continue in her capacity as a shelter veterinarian.

• Peter Klein was elected a shareholder at Drummond Woodsum.

Klein joined the firm in 2010 as a member of its business services group. He focuses his practice on commercial finance transactions and supports corporate clients in various commercial and business transactions. In 2013, he was named a rising star by New England Super Lawyers in the area of banking law.
