NEW FACES

• Rajeev N. Puri, M.D., a general and trauma surgeon, joined the medical staff at Central Maine Medical Center. Puri is practicing with Central Maine Surgical Associates in Lewiston and is a member of CMMC’s trauma team. He comes to the area from Mercy Health Systems in Joplin, Mo.

• Kathy Thorson, a nurse practitioner, has joined Brunswick Primary Care.

Thorson has more than a decade of experience as a registered nurse in both emergency medical services and maternity-labor and delivery, working at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick and Maine Medical Center in Portland. She earned her master’s degree in nursing and gained certification as a nurse practitioner in 2012. She lives in Brunswick.

PROMOTIONS

• The following individuals were promoted at Bar Harbor Bank & Trust:

Sam McGee and Adam Robertson were promoted to regional vice presidents of business banking. Lisa Parsons was promoted to vice president, regional branch relationship manager for Mount Desert Island.

Bonnie Poland was promoted to vice president of retail lending support, Sara O’Connell to assistant vice president of human resources, and Marcia Bender to senior vice president, operations, and a BSA officer.

Michelle Curtis was promoted to assistant vice president and branch relationship manager for Topsham and South China. Krystal Jordan was promoted to assistant vice president and branch relationship manager for Milbridge.

Holly Archer was promoted to assistant vice president of retail and residential lending. CERTIFICATIONS

• New England Rehabilitation Hospital of Portland, a joint venture of Maine Medical Center and HealthSouth, has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for its hip fracture program.

The certification award recognizes the hospital’s dedication to continuous compliance with The Joint Commission’s state-of-the-art standards of care specific to the needs of patients and families, including infection prevention and control, leadership and medication management.

•  Shawn Pennington, a senior systems engineer for WGTECH, was certified as a Cisco Certified Network Professional for security, and as an Interactive Intelligence Interaction Center Certified Engineer 4.0.

•  Josh Randall, a network engineer for WGTECH, was certified as a Cisco Certified Network Associate for security and wireless, and as a Cisco Borderless Network Mobility Support Specialist.

AWARDS

•  Hurley Travel Experts was recognized with the “Northeast Regional Highest Group Sales Award” and the “Best of the Best” in travel agencies at the annual Sandals Star Awards held at Beaches Turks & Caicos.

Beth Skypeck of Hurley Travel Experts also was honored with a third consecutive annual invitation from Sandals Resorts International to join the elite Chairman’s Royal Club, of which she is a charter member. She was also the recipient of a “Sandals Spirit” award in recognition of her expert promotion of the Sandals & Beaches brand, her ongoing engagement of the organization’s principles, and her work on behalf of the philanthropic Sandals Foundation.

• Partners for World Health, a nonprofit committed to helping reduce medical waste while improving global health, has moved to 2112 Broadway West in South Portland. The organization recycles and reprocesses medical supplies that have been discarded. There will be an open house from 5 to 8 p.m. Feb. 13 at its new headquarters.
