New hires, promotions and awards

NEW FACES

Jess Lauren Lipton was hired as a programming assistant for Creative Portland.

Lipton is a sculptor and photographer and a member of The Dooryard artist collective. She was also a founding board member of Creative Portland.

Paul Noble, Karen Schacht and John Ellis III have joined Harriman, an architecture and engineering firm.

Noble, of Windham, was hired as a designer in its electrical engineering studio in Auburn. He brings over 20 years of experience in electrical engineering design. Prior to joining Harriman, he worked for Hannaford in Scarborough as an electrical designer.

Schacht joins Harriman as a senior project architect in its Manchester, N.H., office.

Ellis was hired as a designer in Harriman’s architectural studio in Auburn.

Kelly Dun of Freeport joined North Yarmouth Academy as director of enrollment management and financial aid.

Dun joins NYA from Princeton Day School in Princeton, N.J., where she was director of enrollment management.

Market Decisions, LLC, a market research firm in Portland, added three new employees.

Mark Noyes joined the firm as a research assistant. Bethany Porter was hired as a marketing coordinator. Christine Allen joined the company as field services manager.

Noyes brings experience in sales, education, research, and a strong interest in public health.

Porter previously worked in the nonprofit sector and most recently with a business solutions company. She has experience creating and editing marketing materials, social media planning, event management, and client support and research.

Allen came to the company with 10 years of phone center experience, including six years in supervisory and management positions in a health-care-based phone center.

PROMOTIONS

Eric Hallee, a construction project and sales manager, was named president of Chase Custom Homes & Finance Inc.

Hallee, of Harrison, has over 25 years of experience in the construction industry, including eight with Chase Custom Homes & Finance, Inc.

Bill Gilbert was named director of sales for U.S. Cellular’s New England Business Channel in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont.

Gilbert has more than 15 years of experience in the wireless industry. Previously, he was the business area sales manager for U.S. Cellular in New England. He lives in the Bangor area.

BOARD APPOINTMENTS

Creative Portland added three new members to its board and elected new officers.

Robert W. Cote is the facility manager of Real Estate Solutions for KeyBank. Randy Dee Ferrell is a Realtor at Keller Williams. Mark Rubin is the director of court and corrections research at Hornby Zeller Associates Inc.

Alice Kornhauser was elected president of the board. She was president of the Portland Arts and Cultural Alliance at the time of its merger with Creative Portland in 2012.

Andrew Graham, founding president, is now serving as immediate past president. Kathleen McKeen was re-elected as vice president. Peter Bass was elected as treasurer.

Two Maine potato producers, Brandon Berce and Jay LaJoie, were appointed by U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack to the National Potato Promotion Board.

Berce, of St. Agatha, and LaJoie, of Van Buren, are among the 38 newly appointed members of the board. According to the USDA, each representative will serve a three-year term of office beginning March 1.

Lisa Harvey-McPherson, chief executive officer and president of Eastern Maine HomeCare, was elected to the board of the National Association of Home Care and Hospice.
