NEW FACES

Edward Bogner, M.D., a family physician, joined the medical staff at Central Maine Medical Center. He previously practiced at Geisinger Health Clinic in Danville, Pa. He has worked in Pennsylvania and California in a variety of practice settings, and has been appointed to the medical staffs at a number of hospitals.

 

Diane Richard has joined The Iris Network as the recreation and volunteer manager of its Iris Park Apartments. A graduate of the University of Southern Maine, Richard will be responsible for a variety of recreational opportunities and leisure time activities for the residents as well as overseeing and expanding the volunteer program.

PROMOTIONS

Sue Smith was promoted to regional correctional administrator for region one – juvenile for the Maine Department of Corrections. She started her career at the Maine Youth Center in 1999 and has been with MDOC for 14 years. Most recently, she was regional correctional manager of region two – juvenile.

Scott Stacey was promoted to vice president of Norton Insurance Agency. A Husson University graduate, Stacey, of Portland, joined Norton Insurance in 2002 and became a partner in 2007. Most recently, he served as account executive. He manages property and casualty risks, as well as professional liability for the medical and legal field.

 

Harry Hadiaris was named president of Xpress Natural Gas, overseeing all sales and operations. Hadiaris comes to XNG from his position as president of Irving Oil Marketing. He brings 30 years of downstream energy experience to his new role. Throughout his tenure at Irving, he was responsible for retail and wholesale petroleum activities in New England and Eastern Canada.

AWARDS and RECOGNITIONS

•  South Portland Police Officer John Bostwick was named the department’s Officer of the Year for 2013. Bostwick joined the department in 1986 and is presently assigned to Patrol Team A. He was recognized for his ability to deal with the challenges people face in life, such as suffering with a personal loss, struggling with a mental illness or everyday pressures. “He remains an enthusiastic officer, who works hard every day and brings a contagious energy to his patrol team, where he supports and encourages his younger fellow officers. They are quick to point out his strong communications skills and excellent ability to resolve conflict,” a news release said. He was also to be recognized by the South Portland City Council at a meeting Monday.

•  Holbrook Health Center at Piper Shores recently received the Eli Pick Facility Leadership Award from The American College of Health Care Administrators. The award recognizes skilled nursing facilities for achieving excellence well beyond the Five Star rating system used by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

 

•  The University of Maine at Augusta was recognized for the second year in a row by U.S. News & World Report in its national ranking of universities offering top online degree programs. Last year, it ranked 103rd in Best Online Bachelor programs. UMA climbed this year to 61st in the nation among the almost 300 schools considered by the magazine. UMA offers nine online degree programs and over 200 online courses each year.

BOARD APPOINTMENTS

•  Paul White, president of Paul G. White Interior Solutions; Michael Griffin, senior vice president and senior client manager for Bank of America; Tracy Eames, internal and brand communications, reference labs at IDEXX; and Chris Logan, executive vice president of Androscoggin Bank, were recently elected to serve on the board of trustees for the Susan L. Curtis Charitable Foundation and Camp Susan Curtis.

GENERAL

•  Fiduciary Investment Advisors opened an office at 12 Depot St. in Kennebunk. Leslie Whitney, an accredited investment fiduciary, will lead the Maine office for Fiduciary Investment Advisors. Most recently, she was a founder and president of Whitney Retirement Group. There, she delivered customized advisory services to retirement plan clients, and provided financial wellness and retirement education services to employees.

 

•  CMA Engineers has opened a consulting engineering office at Ten Free Street in Portland. The firm has offices in Kennebunk and in Portsmouth and Manchester, N.H., providing civil, structural, and environmental engineering services in the planning, design and construction administration services for public and private clients.

 

•  Stephan Thayer, principal and managing partner of Colonial Tax Partners, has opened a new office in South Portland at 1486B Broadway. Thayer is a graduate of Becker College in Worcester, Mass., and is currently completing an additional degree with Husson University.
