Mazda recalls Tribute SUVs in cold-weather states

Mazda is recalling 109,000 Tribute SUVs in cold-weather states, including Maine, to fix rusting frame parts.

The recall covers SUVs from the 2001 through 2004 model years. Mazda says in documents filed with U.S. safety regulators that the frame can rust and a wheel control arm can separate from it. That could result in a loss of steering control.

The SUVs were originally sold or registered in 20 states and Washington, D.C., where salt is used to clear snow and ice from roads.

Dealers will install a reinforcement brace to fix the problem. Mazda says it will notify owners by letter when parts are available.

Biggest seller of Greek yogurt plans additions to its lineup

Chobani plans to expand beyond its Greek yogurt cups this summer as it faces intensifying competition.

Starting in July the privately held company plans to offer Chobani Oats, which is strained Greek yogurt mixed with fruit and steel-cut oats; a dessert called Chobani Indulgent; and new flavors for kids.

Chobani is the biggest seller of Greek yogurt in the U.S. but competition has been increasing. Whole Foods recently decided to stop carrying Chobani to make room for other Greek yogurt alternatives.

To its core line, Chobani is introducing Chobani Seasonal, with new seasonal flavors including watermelon and pink grapefruit this summer.

Circulation up, ad revenue down for newspapers in 2013

U.S. newspaper industry revenue fell last year, as increases in circulation revenue weren’t high enough to make up for shrinking demand for print advertising, an industry trade group said Friday.

The Newspaper Association of America said revenue fell 2.6 percent to $37.6 billion in 2013.

Circulation revenue rose 3.7 percent to $10.9 billion, the second straight year of growth.

Advertising revenue fell 6.5 percent to $23.6 billion.

In recent years, newspapers have looked to increase revenue from online sources, as more readers turn to the Internet and mobile devices for news. Digital advertising revenue increased 1.5 percent to $3.42 billion. But that wasn’t enough to offset an 8.6 percent drop in print advertising revenue to $17.3 billion.
