BerryDunn made the following hires in its Portland office:

Matthew Barlion and Rafael Henckel were hired as staff accountants.

Nicholas Corrow and Benjamin Williams were hired as tax specialists.

Miles Smith, a senior consultant, and Jane Courcy, a consultant, joined BerryDunn’s Management and Information Technology Group.

Senior consultants Ryan Doil, Nicolle Field, Lori Kleckner and Gary Listug joined the firm’s Government Consulting Group.

Laura Pandolfo was hired as a business development associate for the Management and Information Technology Group and the Government Consulting Group.

Jim Piraino joins as a manager in the firm’s Tax Consulting and Compliance Group. Most recently, Piraino was a tax manager at McGladrey for nine years.

Dana Doran was hired as executive director for the Professional Logging Contractors of Maine.

Doran, of Belgrade, has more than 15 years of leadership experience in government, private industry, economic development and education. Most recently, he was director of energy and paper programs at Kennebec Valley Community College in Fairfield. He is replacing Mike Beardsley, who stepped down from the position in December of 2013.

Shawn Babine joined Primary Residential Mortgage Inc. of Scarborough as a loan officer licensed in Maine and New Hampshire.

Babine, of Scarborough, brings 20 years of lending and management experience. He was previously a bank manager with KeyBank in Portland and senior vice president with TD Bank. Babine is a former Scarborough town councilor and school board member.

Michael Hicks joined the Maine Department of Corrections as manager of its office of professional review.

Hicks previously worked for the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office. He was an investigator for the Maine Revenue Services. He was later promoted to lieutenant and oversaw the Court Security Division and Prisoner Transport Unit. He was also in charge of the inmate garden program. He retired in 2013.

Hicks also retired from the Baltimore police as a detective lieutenant after 21 years of service.

Virginia “Nia” Luck joined The First as a business relationship officer in its Bar Harbor office.

Luck, of Mount Desert, previously worked for The Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor as a grants accountant.

Bobby Morton joined Health Affiliates Maine as a psychiatric nurse practitioner.

Morton, of Jefferson, will practice from the office on Center Street in Auburn. He brings 10 years of experience in working with patients in agencies and hospital settings.

Eric Swanson joined Patrons Oxford Insurance Co. in Auburn as a claims manager.

Swanson is vice president of the Maine Chapter of CPCU and has worked in the property and casualty claims field for more than 25 years.

Sullivan Tire and Auto Service welcomed three new employees, who previously worked for Century Tire, which closed earlier this year.

The new employees are Eric Anderson, Gordon Driskell and Roger Bouchard.

Anderson, of Naples, joins the Sullivan Tire location in Portland as a counter/service writer. He was a manager at Century Tire for 18 years and has more than 25 years of experience in the automotive industry.

Bouchard, of Waterboro, joins Portland Sullivan Tire as an automotive technician. He was a technician with Century Tire for 16 years.

Driskell, of Westbrook, joins Sullivan Tire’s Scarborough store as an ASE master technician. He has more than 30 years of experience in automotive repair with Century Tire, Morong and Land Rover.

PROMOTIONS

Pam Ward was promoted to vice president and wealth management administration leader at People’s United Bank.

Ward joined People’s in 2007. She specialized in client administration for the past 28 years. Most recently, she was a team leader for the Portland wealth management and investment specialist team.

People’s United also promoted John Lescure to market leader and senior vice president of the Maine division. Lescure joined the bank in 1995.

Tyler Millett was promoted to manager of TD Bank’s location at 10 Tibbetts Drive in Brunswick.

Millett, of Turner, joined TD Bank in 2011 as a financial services representative and most recently served as an assistant store manager at the Great Falls Plaza store in Auburn.

Susan Snowden was promoted to executive vice president, chief retail and delivery officer of Bangor Savings Bank.

Snowden joined Bangor Savings in 2005, serving as a senior vice president and director of small-business financial services. In 2012, she was appointed to director of consumer banking, overseeing the bank’s retail delivery channels, including 57 branches statewide.

The MEMIC Group has promoted Eileen Fongemie and Deborah Lander.

Fongemie was named director of finance. She joined MEMIC in April 2007 as a senior accountant, coming from MaineGeneral Health. In 2010, she was promoted to financial reporting manager.

Lander, who works in MEMIC’s disability management unit of the company’s claims department, was appointed to unit manager. Lander began her career at MEMIC in 2003 and was promoted to team leader last April.

BOARD APPOINTMENTS

Tim Kennedy and Neil Shankman joined the board of directors at the Kids First Center.

Kennedy has been in the real estate business for over 25 years and is now a partner at Town & Shore Associates in Portland.

Shankman is the senior attorney at Shankman & Associates with offices in Lewiston, Topsham and Yarmouth. He specializes in divorce law and has been a longtime supporter of the Kids First program.

David Foote, of ABC Moving and Storage, was recently recognized by Allied Van Lines for being the highest producer of moving services in the Eastern Region.

James Martemucci became a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, one of the premier legal associations in America.

Martemucci is a partner in the firm of Germani Martemucci Riggle & Hill in Portland and has been practicing for 28 years.

Lee Nissan in Auburn was recognized with Nissan North America’s coveted Owner First Award of Excellence.

Lee Nissan, located at Lee Auto Mall on Center Street in Auburn, was the only dealer in Maine and one of just six dealers in New England to earn the honor. The award is decided on more than a dozen stringent business criteria that evaluate everything from customer feedback to adherence of visual identity standards.

Norway Savings Bank was named one of the 2013 Best Banks to Work For by American Banker and Best Companies Group. It was also honored with a Gold Level Well Workplace Award by the Wellness Council of America.

The Best Banks to Work For program was initiated in 2013. In all, 35 banks achieved “Best Bank” status. Elizabeth Moss, proprietor of Elizabeth Moss Galleries in Falmouth, was recently named a “top 500 in North America” by Louise Blouin Media and artinfo.com, a leading authority within the industry.

Moss’ gallery was the only Maine gallery and the only U.S. gallery north of Boston to be included in the list.

Moss opened the gallery in 2004 and has been exhibiting and representing some of Maine’s most talented contemporary artists. She also serves as an adviser to many prominent collectors on acquisitions and sales. She has been responsible for the sale of some of Maine’s most prized artworks, such as the etchings of Winslow Homer and the oils of Stephen Pace. Recently, the gallery sold 15 of its pieces to MaineGeneral for display as part of the new Alfond Center for Health’s permanent collection.

GENERAL

Thomas Lynch of Thomas Lynch Designs was commissioned by the Kennebunkport Historical Society to work on the historic Nott House in Kennebunkport.
