Gina Hobert joined Baker Newman Noyes as a senior manager in the firm’s health care consulting practice.

Prior to joining the firm, Hobert managed the billing compliance and medical audit functions for a major hospital system in New England. She also served as director of a coding center, which provided chart auditing services, on-site coding education programs and coding certification courses.

Carole Barker, a senior consultant; and Michele Staples, a manager, joined its Health Care/Not-for-Profit Group in the Portland office.

BerryDunn promoted:

Dave Erb, a principal, has become the practice group leader of BerryDunn’s Tax Consulting and Compliance Group.

Renee Bishop, a principal, is now a practice group leader of BerryDunn’s Heath Care and Not-for-Profit Group.

Ward I. Graffam Jr. was promoted to senior vice president, market commercial credit manager at TD Bank in Portland.

Graffam, of Falmouth, has 13 years of experience in banking and lending. He joined TD Bank in 2012 and most recently served as a vice president in commercial credit management. He is still responsible for managing the credit underwriting and credit administration functions for the bank’s commercial banking portfolio in Maine.

Melinda Higgins of People’s United Bank has taken on a new role as customer service manager at the Yarmouth office.

Higgins will be responsible for ensuring a quality customer service experience.

BOARD APPOINTMENTS

Dr. Kyra Chadbourne, DDS, and retired U.S. Navy Adm. Gregory Johnson were elected to the board of directors for Delta Dental Plan of Maine.

Chadbourne, of Gorham, is practicing at Community Dental’s Portland and Biddeford locations. She is also a clinical instructor at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and adjunct clinical faculty at the Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health.

Johnson, of Harpswell, retired from the Navy in December 2004 after 36 years. Johnson then founded Snow Ridge Associates, which provides strategic advice and counsel.

AWARDS

The Nature Conservancy in Maine honored Sen. Susan Collins with its “Champion of Nature” in Washington last month. Rep. Mike Michaud was also honored, in recognition of his commitment to supporting conservation initiatives such as the Forest Legacy and Land and Water Conservation Fund programs.

In a news release, Michael Tetreault, executive director for The Nature Conservancy in Maine, praised Collins for her consistent efforts to improve the health and conservation of Maine’s lands and waters.

“Her support of the Penobscot River Restoration and forest easements in Maine (through the Forest Legacy program) are crucial to Maine keeping our forests in production and accessible the public,” he said in the release.

City of Bath Assessor Paul Mateosian was recently named the 2013 Assessor of the Year by the Maine Association of Assessing Officers.

Mateosian joined the City of Bath as assessor in 1994. He is also the city’s Internet technology manager, the Bath Community Television manager and assistant city manager.

The Town & Country Federal Credit Union’s 2012 Better Neighbor Fund charitable giving campaign was awarded a Bronze Award in the overall philanthropy category by the New England Financial Marketing Association.

The Maine Manufacturing Extension Partnership announced that Kennebec Technologies was selected as its 2013 Manufacturer of the Year.

The Augusta-based firm has grown from a small shop with manual machines to a world-class manufacturing operation specializing in complex high-precision components for aerospace, defense, alternative energy, medical, semiconductor and telecom applications.

Karen Frink Wolf, an attorney with Verrill Dana, was recognized in Benchmark Litigation’s 2013 edition by being named as one of the “Top 250 Women in Litigation.”

Her litigation practice focuses on professional liability and product liability and mass tort defense. She regularly works with physicians, hospitals, health care professionals and pharmaceutical companies.

The National Association of Social Workers Maine Chapter honored Gregg Frame of Cape Elizabeth and Adam Taylor of Falmouth, of the law firm of Taylor, McCormack & Frame LLC, as its Citizens of the Year.

Frame and Taylor were recognized for their work on behalf of 550 social workers and clinicians.
