NEW FACES

David Argereow joined the Scarborough Health Care practice. Argereow is a certified physician assistant and previously worked in emergency medicine at Maine Medical Center and St. Joseph Hospital.

Jonathan Berry and Mark Dion, D-Portland, have formed Berry and Dion, LLC, a law firm on India Street in Portland. Berry, of Falmouth, was previously in private practice where he specialized in litigation in both civil and criminal matters. Dion, of Portland, was previously Cumberland County sheriff, a post he held for 12 years. 

Cathy Melio joined Maine Community Foundation as program officer. Melio will coordinate grant making, development and donor service activities. She will also work with volunteer advisers and nonprofits in Waldo, Knox, Hancock and Washington counties. She was previously the program and outreach coordinator at the Penobscot Marine Museum and education director at the Center for Maine Contemporary Art. 

Bernie Lopez of Cape Elizabeth joined the sales team at Classic Flooring on Route 1 in Scarborough. 

Alice Guidi, a licensed clinical social worker, recently joined True North as an affiliate practitioner. Guidi works with adults and adolescents, using “a mindfulness-based cognitive therapy approach to help them uncover their true potential.” She treats a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder and post traumatic stress disorder.

The following individuals joined Creative Work Systems of Portland: Sue Wood of Auburn joined as an intern; and Kevin Larson of Scarborough was named a team leader. Ashley Reed of Windham, Scott Simonds of Saco, Samantha Smith of Old Orchard Beach, and Kathryn McConaughey of Auburn joined the company as life skills coaches. 

Paul Lowd joined Patient Advocates, LLC as a customer service representative. Lowd, of Cornish, will assist clients with plan and claims information. 

Sue Till joined Guiding Stars Licensing Company in Scarborough as a client services manager. Till has more than 20 years of experience in the industry and previously worked as marketing director in the Food and Wellness Group at Swardlick Marketing Group. 

Matthew Rideout joined Nancy Marshall Communications as an interactive marketing manager. Rideout, of Auburn, was previously with revDRTV, where he connected direct response television ads with the Internet and social media to improve customer conversion rates. 

Link Stevens was named a marketing director at Jobg8 North America, a web-based marketplace for online job boards. Stevens has more than10 years of Web marketing experience with various firms in Portland.

Shonna Eisenhower was promoted to manager of TD Bank’s branch in Hannaford supermarket on Ossipee Trail in Standish. Eisenhower, of Saco, has 14 years of banking experience. She joined TD Bank in 1997 as a teller and most recently served as assistant store manager. 

Krista Okerholm was named retail manager of Goodwill’s Biddeford store. Okerholm, of Alfred, was previously assistant store manager at the Goodwill store in South Portland.

Kanyakorn Brewer of Windham was named retail manager of the Goodwill store in Windham. She was previously the assistant store manager its Windham location. 

Katelyn Estes, of Hobbs Funeral Home, was licensed as a funeral practitioner. Estes was hired at Hobbs in 2008 as an apprentice. She was previously with Smart and Edwards Funeral Home in Skowhegan. 

Sherrin Vail was promoted to director of property management of Avesta Housing. Vail was previously a regional property manager for Avesta and has 15 years of experience in the multifamily housing industry.

John Simpson, a client of Preti Flaherty, was named a recipient of the 2011 Maine Freedom of Information Coalition Sunshine Award. Simpson and his company, MacImage of Maine, were selected for work done to advance open government in Maine. Preti Flaherty and MacImage of Maine recently won a Freedom of Access Act case against six Maine counties. 

Jef Howell, purchasing manager of Verso Paper Corp., will be recognized with PIMA’s 2011 Ray H. Cross Community Service Award. Howell will receive the award during the 2011 PaperCon Conference in Covington, Ky. in May. He has worked at the Androscoggin Mill for 30 years and is a member and past chair of the Jay, Livermore, Livermore Falls Chamber of Commerce. 

The Maine Children’s Home for Little Wanderers in Waterville received the Community Service Project of the Year Award from the Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce. The nonprofit agency received the award in recognition for their recent Hague accreditation, which establishes safeguards to ensure inter-country adoption occurs in the best interest of children and families, and with the highest levels of integrity and ethics in practice. 

The following individuals were elected officers of the Avesta Housing board of directors: Neal Allen, executive director of Greater Portland Council of Governments, chair; Drew Sigfridson, a designated broker at CB Richard Ellis/The Boulos Company, vice chair; Gren Blackall, chief deposit officer at Gorham Savings Bank, treasurer; Rebecca Greenfield, an attorney at Pierce Atwood LLP, secretary.
