NEW FACES

• Nancy Artz, a professor of business administration at the University of Southern Maine’s School of Business, was named director of USM’s honors program.

Artz, of Cumberland, joined USM in 1989. She has taught courses on consumer behavior and sustainable business practices at the master of business administration and undergraduate levels. She also created and coordinated the online sustainable business certificate program for the USM Center for Continuing Education.

• Patricia Weiser joined Martin’s Point as vice president of compliance and program integrity.

Weiser has more than 15 years of compliance, regulatory and Medicare experience. Most recently, she was in a leadership role at EmblemHealth Inc.

PROMOTIONS

• Jennifer Sirois was promoted to vice president-portfolio manager in commercial real estate at TD Bank.

Sirois, of Saco, has 13 years of experience in banking and commercial real estate. She joined TD Bank in 1998 as a teller in Biddeford and York, and also has served as a private banking portfolio specialist and commercial credit analyst.

She joined the bank’s commercial real estate division in 2008 and most recently served as an assistant vice president.

BOARD APPOINTMENTS

• Common Good Ventures, a nonprofit services provider, recently elected three new members to its board of directors: Tom Davis, chief executive officer of Skills Inc.; Susan Reid Russell, a nonprofit consultant; and Bob Schools, senior vice president of retail operations at Hannaford Bros.

Christopher Speh was elected board chairman, Dawn Stiles was elected secretary and Benjamin Geci was elected treasurer.

• P. James Nicholson, an accountant in Waterville, was elected chairman of the Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems board of directors. Evelyn Silver of Bangor was elected vice chairwoman.

Nicholson, of China Village, is active in his community, serving on many local boards and committees. He is a past trustee and chairman of Inland Hospital’s board of trustees. Inland is a member of EMHS.

RECOGNITIONS

• Katahdin Bankshares Corp., parent company of Katahdin Trust Co., was named a Top 200 Community Bank by U.S. Banker magazine.

It’s the fifth consecutive year the company has been named to the list.

• Kevin Merrill, a structural engineer in Stantec’s Scarborough office, was named the Young Civil Engineer of the Year by the Maine section of the American Society of Civil Engineers.

Merrill, 26, specializes in analyzing, designing and inspecting the structural systems of power generation facilities and their equipment.
