NEW FACES

• Jeffrey Joyce joined the intellectual property and business law practice at Perkins Olson, P.A. Joyce graduated from the University of Maine School of Law. He completed clerkships with the school’s intellectual property clinic, the Maine Attorney General’s Office and the York County District Attorney’s Office.

• The Rev. John McHugh joined Saint Joseph’s College as campus chaplain. McHugh is an ordained Catholic priest and Capuchin Franciscan friar. He was previously a parish pastor in East Patchogue, N.Y., and later became a vicar provincial minister for the Capuchin Order from 2008 to 2011.

PROMOTIONS

• Matthew Arnold was promoted to the position of service manager at U.S. Cellular. He will lead the service technicians at the company’s retail stores in New Hampshire and Maine. He was previously an operations analyst for the New England market and a retail wireless consultant at the company’s Bangor store.

RETIREMENT

• Estelle Rubinstein, executive director of Androscoggin Head Start and Child Care, is retiring. Rubinstein, who has been with the organization for more than 40 years, will continue in her current position through the end of 2011.

BOARD APPOINTMENTS

• Brad Hunter, chief financial officer of Dead River Co. in Portland, was appointed to the board of directors for The Geiger Group. Hunter joined Dead River in 2007.

• Peter Bennett, a partner at The Bennett Law Firm in Portland, was named chair of the American Bar Association’s Standing Committee on Judicial Independence. Bennett is nationally recognized as a leader representing management in the field of labor and employment law.

• David S. Cunningham was appointed to the board of directors for ImmuCell Corp. He is president and chief executive officer of Teva Animal Health in St. Joseph, Mo.

• The following individuals were selected for a commission that will advise the Joint Standing Committee on Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry on land use planning and regulation in the state’s unorganized territories:

Gov. Paul LePage appointed Don Kleiner, Hank McPherson, Sarah Medina and Donald White to the commission.

Senate President Kevin Raye appointed Gary Lamb, Tom Rumpf, Christopher Gardner and Durward Humphrey.

House Speaker Robert Nutting appointed Elbridge Cleaves, Robert Dunphy, Duane Lander and Judith Cooper East.

William Beardsley, the commissioner of conservation, will also serve on the commission.

• Stephan Bunker of Farmington was recently elected vice president of the Maine Municipal Association. Bunker is chairman of the town’s Board of Selectmen. He will assume the post in January.

In other MMA election results, Wiscasset Town Manager Laurie Smith and St. Agatha Selectman Beurmond Banville will join the executive committee next January for three-year terms. Errol “Abe” Additon, a Leeds selectman who serves on the MMA board, was re-elected to the executive committee.
