NEW FACES

• Dr. Susan Santangelo joined Maine Medical Center as director of psychiatric research. She comes from Massachusetts General Hospital, and is an associate professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School.

• Lynn Marie Covelli recently joined Patient Advocates as a nurse advocate and case manager. Covelli, a registered nurse, has worked as a nurse educator, heath care insurance account manager and health coach. She lives in Portland.

• Jennifer Smith joined Maine Community Health Options as a senior health plan benefits analyst. She has more than 15 years of claims experience. Most recently, she worked at Martin’s Point Health Care with the claims and finance systems.

• Deb Rainey joined Broadreach Family and Community Services as a quality assurance specialist for the agency’s early childhood programs. Rainey has more than 25 years of experience in early care and education. Most recently, she provided consultation, coaching and training for early care professionals to support the inclusion of all children in community programs. 

• Serena Chessey and Sean McCullough joined Custom Coach and Limousine.

Chessey was hired as an administrative assistant. She is a Portland native with strong ties to the Sebago area.

McCullough of Gorham was hired as a sales and marketing manager. He will focus on selling and educating clients on all aspects of group and individual passenger transportation.

• Scott Kinney joined DiMillo’s Yacht Sales to start up its new Belfast office. Kinney has a 35-year history in the yacht sales field. He will offer brokerage services for power and sailing boats, and representation for new Sabre and Back Cove Yachts.

• Kate-Lyn Lyons and Justin Childs joined Diversified Business Communications.

Lyons was named a customer service representative. She was previously with Mercy Hospital.

Childs was hired as a marketing coordinator. He was previously with Wilderness Medical Associates International, Portland.

• Erika Bush joined Nancy Marshall Communications as an account assistant. Bush has a diverse background in marketing and public relations in Maine and in New York City, along with experience in social media marketing. Bush was an executive assistant at Webster Hall, the largest privately owned event venue in New York.

• Meaghan LaVangie joined iCST as a new technical recruiter. LaVangie worked previously as an immigration paralegal, focusing on H-1B visas, then took a consulting position at Explorica Educational Travel.

Julie-Anne Tanner also joined the i-CST team. She previously worked in the financial industry as a sales and administrative coordinator.

• Brendan Olsen was hired as an account executive at CUAlliance, the out-of-state subsidiary of Insurance Trust. Olsen will specialize in insurance products for credit unions in New Hampshire, Vermont and Massachusetts.

BOARD APPOINTMENTS

• Gretchen Sigler of Yarmouth and Andrea Morin of Portland were appointed to the board of directors for the Homeless Animal Rescue Team, a no-kill, no-cage, all-volunteer cat shelter and adoption center in Cumberland.

• Avesta Housing announced the following appointments to its board of directors.

Drew Sigfridson, a broker at CBRE|The Boulos Co., was named chairman of its board of directors. Rebecca Greenfield, a partner at Pierce Atwood, was named vice chair. Robert Dunfey, executive director at ITNPortland, was named secretary; and Gren Blackall, chief banking officer at Gorham Savings Bank, was named treasurer.

The following board members were re-elected to three-year terms.

Senate President Justin Alfond, a real estate developer; Neal Allen, executive director of the Greater Portland Council of Governments; Gren Blackall, chief banking officer at Gorham Savings Bank; Rep. Mike Carey, real estate developer; Robert Dunfey, executive director of ITNPortland; Rebecca Greenfield, a partner at Pierce Atwood; Luc Nya, multicultural services coordinator for the Maine Department of Health and Human Services; and Cornelia Swanson, executive credit officer for New England, TD Bank.

Deqa Dhalac, human service counselor at the city of Portland, was also recently appointed to the Avesta board for a three-year term.

AWARDS AND RECOGNITIONS

• Roger Putnam of Portland, an attorney at Verrill Dana, recently celebrated 55th years of practicing law at the firm.

• Ellie Baker, managing principal of Baker Newman Noyes, and her husband, Tom Saturley, president and owner of Tranzon Auction Properties, were honored with the American Heart Association’s 2013 Crystal Heart Award. Baker and Saturley are both active in the community and involved with many charitable organizations, including the American Heart Association. Saturley has served as auctioneer for the American Heart Association.

• Scott Kelly, president of Enterprise Trenchless Technologies Inc., was named Equipment World’s 2013 Contractor of the Year. Kelly of Lisbon Falls was one of 12 contractors from all over the country nominated for the award. 

• The Ellsworth Area Chamber of Commerce will recognize the Ellsworth American with its Top Drawer Award at its annual meeting next month. “The Ellsworth American is one of the most prominent and defining businesses in our community. The newspaper has touched the lives of practically everyone in some capacity or another,” Tony Cameron, executive director of the chamber, said in a news release.

• The Breast Health Program at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center is one of only four centers in Maine and only 40 breast centers in New England to receive accreditation from the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers. Accreditation is only given to those centers that have voluntarily committed to provide the highest level of quality breast care. The centers must undergo a rigorous evaluation process and review of their performance.

GENERAL

• DiMillo’s Yacht Sales is opening a brokerage office at Front Street Shipyard in Belfast. DiMillo’s will occupy 600 square feet of waterfront office space, with both land space and dockage to display brokerage yachts, as well as new Sabres and Back Cove boats. The new office will open May 1.
