NEW FACES

• Keiko Myer has joined Macpage LLC as an audit staff accountant.

Keiko was previously an accounting supervisor at a university and an accounting coordinator at a Maine-based marketing firm.

Jay Curran was hired by Gen Re to join the company's group and specialty reinsurance division as second vice president and account executive with its marketing and account management team.

Curran will be based out of the South Portland office. He has over 20 years of experience in group sales, as well as group and individual underwriting. He was most recently a sales executive for Delta Dental of Massachusetts.

PROMOTIONS

Steve Minich, a reporter for WMTW (Channel 8), was promoted to anchor.

Minich will join anchor Tracy Sabol and meteorologist Roger Griswold on the news at 5 p.m. beginning Sept. 9.

"Steve's career in the industry spans nearly 30 years," Dave Abel, president and general manager of WMTW, said in a news release. "He's been part of WMTW for much of that time -- and has traveled to nearly every corner of Maine on various news stories. Along with Tracy Sabol and Roger Griswold, this strengthens the on-air dynamic that viewers will see each weeknight."

Sue Smith was promoted to acting regional correctional administrator, Region 2 -- Juvenile for the Maine Department of Corrections.

Smith has worked for the MDOC for 14 years. Most recently, she served regional correctional manager of Region 2 -- Juvenile.

Doug Whitney, an award-winning architect with WBRC Architects -- Engineers, was named president of the firm.

Whitney has been a principal at WBRC since 1989 after joining the firm in 1980. He led the creation of the company's Florida branch in Lakewood Ranch in 2002. Under his watch, the firm has grown significantly, with projects across 17 states, earning the trust of regional and national clients.

BOARD APPOINTMENTS

The Cheverus High School Board of Trustees elected the following officers:

William R. Campbell, S.J., of Portland, president; Richard W. Petersen, of South Portland, chairman; Susan Campbell, of Cumberland Center, vice chairwoman; Edward Dilworth, of Cumberland Foreside, treasurer; and Patricia Kirby, of Falmouth, secretary.

AWARDS

Bar Harbor Bank & Trust recognized Michelle Curtis and Colleen Maynard as recipients of its Agnes Salisbury "Customer Service" Award, the bank's highest employee honor.

Curtis is an assistant vice president and branch relationship manager in Topsham and South China. She was recognized for "her professionalism, unfailing friendly attitude, and devotion to exceed the expectations of customers at every opportunity," the news release said.

Maynard is assistant vice president and branch relationship manager in Southwest Harbor. She was recognized "for her exceptional customer service, using her extensive banking experience to help customers, and for taking the time to get to know them on a personal level and understand their specific financial needs," the news release said.

Lawyers Sumner Lipman and Roger Katz, namesakes of the downtown Augusta law firm Lipman & Katz, P.A., were selected for inclusion in the 20th edition of The Best Lawyers in America. The firm is ranked as No. 1 in Augusta for the areas of medical malpractice law -- plaintiffs and family law.

Lipman has held Best Lawyer ranking in medical malpractice law -- plaintiffs consistently since 2008.

Katz has held Best Lawyer ranking in the practice of family law consistently since 1989.
