NEW HIRES

• Kelsey Wilcox joined the law firm Bernstein Shur as an associate in its labor and employment group.

Wilcox, of Portland, provides representation and counsel to employers throughout northern New England in all aspects of labor law and employment law. Prior to joining the firm, she served as a judicial clerk to the Maine Superior Court, assisting the court in Androscoggin, Cumberland and Kennebec counties.

• Kevin Ronan recently became a licensed real estate sales agent and will be affiliated with Foundations Real Estate in Yarmouth.

Ronan, of Yarmouth, previously served for 12 years as president and chief executive officer of Atlantic Home Health Inc.

• Joe Bumps was hired at Landry/French Construction Co. as a superintendent.

He is assigned to the Casco Bay Ferry Terminal renovation project in Portland.

Bumps has more than 20 years of experience. He comes from Ledgewood Construction, where he managed a 14-phase health care project and a new office tower in Portland that received a Build Maine award.

• Charles Agnew III joined Competitive Energy Services as a business development and account manager.

Agnew was previously vice president of technical sales with Biomass Commodities Corp.

• Dennis Wheelock joined Magnusson Balfour Commercial & Business Brokers as a sales agent.

Wheelock opened Dennis’ Pizza, where he has served the Gardiner area for 30 years. In 2005, he became a licensed residential appraiser and recently became a real estate sales agent.

• The Maine Red Claws have hired Will McClaran, Sandra Eustis-Brackett, Chris Taylor and Erika Johnson.

McClaran, of Portland, was named director of public relations and community relations. He will be the primary contact for the media and will oversee all interview scheduling and requests. Most recently, he served as an account executive in the public relations department at Kemp Goldberg Partners in Portland.

Eustis-Brackett, of Gorham, was hired as the office manager. Most recently, she was the operations manager at First Protection Services, a private security firm in Scarborough.

Taylor was named an account executive, selling individual, group and season tickets. Taylor, of Portland, worked in the operations departments of the Albuquerque Isotopes and the New Orleans Zephyrs, Triple-A affiliates of the Los Angeles Dodgers and Miami Marlins.

Johnson has been hired as public relations and operations assistant. She worked for the team as an intern in the public and community relations department. She lives in South Portland.

PROMOTIONS

• Adam Skibek was promoted to ticket sales manager for the Red Claws.

Skibek, of Westbrook, had been a senior account executive. He joined the team in 2011 as an account executive. Previously, he completed an internship in the corporate sales department of the Boston Celtics.

• David Boyer is the new general manager of Advance Auto Parts Inc., which will open its first store in Sanford today at 1105 Main St.

A 19-year veteran of the automotive and retail sales industries, Boyer has been with the Advance Auto Parts team for almost 10 years. He is ASE-certified, having passed stringent testing of his automotive knowledge by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence.

CERTIFICATIONS

• Dr. Ted M. Roth of the Women’s Health Center and the Central Maine Medical Center Bladder Control Center in Lewiston, has achieved certification in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery.

Roth is part of the inaugural class of this new board certification jointly granted by the American Board of Urology and the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Roth is one of a handful of doctors in Maine with this expertise.

AWARDS

• The founders and owners of Cross Insurance were honored as Distinguished Citizens by the Boy Scouts of America’s Katahdin Area Council.

The insurance provider was recognized for its dedication to the community.

Brent Cross, executive vice president of the company, serves on the Katahdin Area Council’s board of directors.

• Elm Terrace, developed by Community Housing of Maine, was recognized by the National Housing & Rehabilitation Association as the 2013 J. Timothy Anderson Award for best historic rehabilitation project involving new construction.

The award honors outstanding rehabilitation and preservation projects nationwide. It was created as a tribute to Boston architect and preservation advocate J. Timothy Anderson.

BOARD APPOINTMENTS

• James Van Hoften, a former NASA Astronaut and Bechtel executive, joined Cianbro’s board of directors.

Van Hoften served as a mission specialist on the Challenger in 1984 and on Discovery in 1985. At the conclusion of his NASA tenure, Van Hoften joined the Bechtel Corp., where he helped to establish the new defense and space business as a key component of the company.

• Sen. Ron Collins, R-York, was appointed to the National Conference of State Legislatures’ Standing Committee on Energy, Transportation and Agriculture.

Collins was also appointed to the presidential search committee at York County Community College. He is serving his second term in the Maine Senate. He served four terms in the House of Representatives. He serves on the Maine Legislature’s Transportation and State and Local Government committees.

GENERAL

• Lawyer Karen Bilodeau is celebrating her 10th year with the workers’ rights law firm, McTeague Higbee this month.

Bilodeau, of Auburn, is a partner at McTeague Higbee. She practices workers’ compensation law and personal injury law for clients in the Lewiston-Auburn and Portland areas. She was recently selected for inclusion in the 2014 edition of the Best Lawyers in America in the specialty of workers’ compensation.

• Jennifer Dodd of South Portland became an independent consultant with Tastefully Simple Inc., a national direct-sales company featuring more than 60 easy-to-prepare foods.
