This photograph, credited to “Staff Photographer Olson,” was originally published in the Feb. 28, 1961 edition of the Portland Evening Express, in a social calendar item about a meeting of the Northern New England District of the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association and Daughters of Penelope.

Following the convention of the time, the accompanying caption identifies these women only by the names of their husbands.  Seated are (from left to right) Mrs. Gregory Kerry, Mrs. Dorothy Dube, and Mrs. Dianna Yaiours; standing, from left to right, are Mrs. Christopher Makrides, Mrs. James A. Leveris, Mrs. Theodore Pappas and Mrs. Emilie Ballard.
