AUGUSTA — The money is still flowing in Maine’s race for governor, according to campaign finance reports filed Friday.

Republican candidate Paul LePage was the top fundraiser for the most recent filing period, Sept. 15 to Oct. 19, according to state campaign finance reports.

LePage, the front-runner in recent polls, raised about $340,000 and spent about $649,000 during the period.

He had about $224,000 in cash on hand at the end of the reporting period.

The latest reports were due at 11:59 p.m. Friday.

Democratic nominee Libby Mitchell, a publicly financed candidate, had about $188,000 in cash on hand, according to her filing. She spent about $680,000 during the reporting period.

Independent candidate Eliot Cutler raised about $122,000, according to his filing. He also spent about $100,000 of his own money on in-kind contributions and loaned his campaign about $227,000 during the period. He spent about $386,000 during latest period and had about $85,000 in cash on hand.

Cutler has loaned his campaign about $667,000 since the beginning of the race.

Kevin Scott, another independent candidate, raised about $5,000, according to campaign finance reports. He spent about $5,000 and had about $1,600 in cash on hand.

Independent candidate Shawn Moody was the only candidate not to file his report during business hours Friday.
