L.D. 156: An Amendment to the Constitution of Maine Concerning Early Voting and Voting by Absentee Ballot

L.D. 156, sponsored by Rep. Michael Shaw, D-Standish, would change the Maine Constitution to give cities and towns the option to allow in-person voting before Election Day. Although the House approved the bill 87-57 with this vote, the margin was several votes shy of the two-thirds margin needed to send the issue to voters, who have final approval of changes to the Maine Constitution.
