    Valedictorian - Selena Lorrey, the daughter of John and Linda Lorrey, is the Valedictorian of the Class of 2012. She will be continuing her education at Bowdoin College studying molecular biology. While at Traip, Selena lettered on the varsity soccer, basketball and outdoor track teams all four years of high school. She also found time to take part in Team Green, Student Government, National Honor Society, Drama Club and the Traip Academy Advocacy Group. Selena participated in laboratory experiences at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and York Hospital.

    Salutatorian - Evan Leake, the son of Thomas and Jonel Leake, is the Salutatorian of the Class of 2012. Evan will be attending Bentley University in September. He is a natural leader and has particular interest in the social sciences. Evan has served as a class officer, student government officer and most recently represented the student body as President. He is very active in the Boy Scouts and has earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He also enjoys participating in drama, band, National Honor Society and the Heritage Club.

    Salutatorian - Alexis Ovington, the daughter of Robert and Sarah Ovington, will be attending the University of Maine where she will study mathematics and secondary education. As Salutatorian of the Class of 2012, Alexis participates in the Student Government, Project Search, National Honor Society and has been a member of the varsity softball team for four years. She has traveled to Italy and Greece with People to People and has volunteered her time at the Center for Wildlife.

    The daughter of Cal and Sabra Powers, Anna Powers will be pursuing her study of history at the University of Southern Maine in the fall. Anna served as the student member on the Kittery School Committee during the 2011-2012 school year. She is a very talented flute player and has played at numerous community events and was a member of the Traip Academy band. Anna enjoys playing field hockey and was recognized as the team's co-captain her senior year.

    Abigail Lawrence is the daughter of Tim and Vicki Lawrence. She was accepted at the University of Southern Maine, Rogers Williams, Chaplain College, St. Michael's College and ultimately decided on Clark University, where she will study the social sciences. She has volunteered her time as a student listener at Mitchell School, was an active member of the student government and participated on the varsity field hockey team. As a member of the field hockey team she was recognized as an All-State player and All-Academic recipient.

    The son of William and Terry Hartley, Alexander Hartley, will be attending Chaplain College in the fall. He plans on studying digital filmmaking. During Alex's four years at Traip Academy he participated in the Spanish Exchange program, National Honor Society and band. Athletically he has been actively involved in soccer, indoor and outdoor track. Alex has also served as a student listener and volunteered at the Southern Maine Olympics track meet.

    Matthew Curti, son of Michael and Caritha Curti will be attending the University of Maine at Orono in September. He will be focusing his attention in the field of biological engineering. Matthew has been an active member of the student government serving as Class President his freshmen and sophomore year and student government Vice President this past year. Graduating after three years of high school, he has also participated in the Traip Academy Dramatic Arts program and the National Honor Society.

    Erik Byrne is the son of Michael and Ingalill Byrne, who will be attending the University of Maine at Orono to study biological engineering. He has been a captain of the Traip Academy Robotics team, first trumpet as a member of the band, and played varsity football his freshmen and sophomore years. Most recently, Erik played the male lead in the musical "Godspell." He has also volunteered countless hours working in the community setting up playground equipment and cleaning up wooded areas for the youth of the community to enjoy.

    The daughter of Chris Daly and Laura Fournier, Danielle Daly will attend the University of Maine at Machias in the fall. Danielle will be furthering her education in the field of environmental recreation. At Traip, Danielle participated in Project Search and was a four year member of the Traip Academy Dramatic Arts team where she was an actress and tech assistant. In the community, she volunteered at New Heights and Mitchell School. Danielle also has a passion for fine arts and enjoys knitting and making jewelry out of recycled materials.

    The son of Chris and Lisa Noble, Michael Noble, will be attending the Honors College at the University of Maine, Orono in September. A gifted student, Michael has received numerous academic awards over the last four years. He has participated as a member of the Robo-Rangers, the Traip Robotics Team and the Traip Academy Band.

    Olivia Dow is the daughter of George and Julie Dow. She was accepted at Saint Michael's College, UNH, UMF, Stonehill College, Emmanual College and also Elmira College where she will be focusing her attention on psychology. Olivia has been an active member of her youth group, a student listener for Mitchell School students, and a member of numerous school organizations. Outside of school, Olivia has participated in competitive cheerleading for nine years as a member of Maine Stars Cheer gym. She is also part of Student 2 Student, a school group that helps transition military and new students into the Traip Academy community.

    Katherine Volpe, the daughter of Matthew and Michele Volpe will be attending Stonehill College in the fall. Katherine has traveled with the Heritage Club to Ireland, Costa Rica and Greece. She has been actively involved in the Art Club and the school newspaper "The Green Ranger." Katherine was the president of The National Honor Society and also served as her class President during her freshmen and sophomore years. In athletics, Katherine has participated in soccer, basketball and softball serving as team captain in all three sports her senior year.

    Joshua Coleman, the son of Beth Buzzell and Ryan Coleman, will be attending Norwich University in September. Josh plans on continuing his education in the field of electrical engineering. He has participated as a member of the Robo-Rangers, the schools Robotics Team and served as its team captain. For the last seven years, Josh has been involved in Boy Scouts of America, and has held numerous leadership roles as part of that organization.

    Jackson L. Cannell was the football coach at Traip Academy and Dartmouth College during the 1950's. There is probably at least one of his former players in the audience today. Each year, the Jackson L. Cannell Athletic Award is presented to the outstanding male athlete in the graduating class. This year recipient is:

    Norma "Sis" Morrow was a long time coach of basketball and softball at Traip at the same time as Jack Cannell. She retired in 1975 after a long and distinguished career at Traip. The Norma "Sis" Morrow Athletic Award is presented annually to the outstanding female athlete in the graduating class. This year's recipient is:

    TRAIP TRUSTEE AWARDS
    Each year, the Trustees of the Robert W. Traip Trust present Awards and Scholarships to graduating seniors. In addition, the Trustees offer a significant number of grants-in-aid to all four schools in Kittery, Mitchell Primary, Frisbee Elementary, Shapleigh Middle, and Traip Academy.
    140 years ago, in 1869, Robert W. Traip passed away, leaving in his will a sum of money to be dedicated to the education of the youth of Kittery. His homestead was sold to the town in 1903 and the first class graduated from the new Robert W. Traip Academy in 1906. The scholarships presented at this time are dedicated to the memory of several benefactors of our school.
    Each year, the Traip Trustees present watches to students who have demonstrated the qualities of scholarship, leadership, and service during their years at Traip.

    6) The final watch is presented in memory of Dr. Paul Taylor, a long time president of the Traip Trustees and a tireless worker for our school. Dr. Taylor took particular interest in the student who worked hard, persevered under difficult circumstances, and set the proper example for classmates. The Dr. Paul Taylor Watch is presented each year to that student in the graduating class who has, through hard work and perseverance, gotten the most out of his/her education. This year's recipient is:

    Dr. Charles Ivon McNall fought in WWI, he was born in 1896 and died in 1969, he is buried in the Orchard Grove Cemetery. The Dr. C.I. McNall Trustee Scholarship in the amount of $2,500 for 4 years is awarded to:
