    Top 10 Honor Students

    Kelly Marie Beisswanger is the daughter of Brad and Nancy Beisswanger of Wells and is the Valedictorian of the Class of 2012. Kelly will be attending Worcester Polytechnic Institute this fall majoring in Biomedical Engineering studies. Her major activities and/or awards received while at Wells High School include being a member and President of the WHS Chapter of the National Honor Society; recipient of the St. Michael's College Book Award and the Phi Beta Kappa Award in 2011. Kelly also received a Letter of Commendation from the National Merit Scholarship program. Kelly has been a 4-year member of the Varsity Soccer team and was a WMC All-Star her senior year. She has been a 4-year member of the Girls Varsity Basketball team and was chosen to be part of the McDonald's All-Academic Team. Kelly has also played Varsity Lacrosse for the past 4 years.

    Jared Nelson Cobb is the son of Gary and Millie Cobb of Wells. Jared plans to attend the University of New England and major in Chemistry. His major activities and/or awards received while at Wells High School include being a member of the WHS Chapter of the National Honor Society; recipient of a Breakfast of Champions award in 2010; and a recipient of an academic book award in Chemistry in 2011.

    Joseph Alden Iriana III is the son of Joseph, Jr. and Laura Iriana of Wells. He has been accepted at Gordon College and will attend there this fall with a major in Communication Arts. His major activities and/or awards received while at Wells High School include a Student of the Trimester Award, and academic book awards. Joe has been a member of the tennis team and has worked as a journalist for the Maine Hockey Journal.

    Zachary Ernest Mason is the son of Ernest and Marilyn Mason of Wells. He plans to attend the University of Maine in Orono to major in Environmental Sciences. His major activities and/or awards while at Wells High School include being a member of the WHS Chapter of the National Honor Society; recipient of the Student of the Trimester award; awarded several academic awards; member of the WHS Concert Band and Jazz Band and the WHS Math Team. Zach has also been a member of the Varsity Soccer team and the tennis team.

    Patrick Henry Menard is the son of Carl and Suzanne Menard of Wells. He plans to attend the University of Maine in Orono with a double major in Computer Science and New Media. His major activities and/or awards received while at Wells High School include being a member of the tennis team, the Civil Rights Team, the Young Adults Against Dating Abuse (YAADA) group, the Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) club, Empowering Peers Influencing Choices (EPIC), Writer's Bloc, and the Rocket Club. He is the recipient of several academic book awards in English, mathematics, and design. Patrick received the St. Anselm's College award and regional and national gold/silver awards in art for original video game/mixed media art and photography. He has received two 1st place awards in the annual Literary Achievement Awards competition and has competed at the District 1 Music Festival playing the violin. Patrick has also played the violin at the Merrill Auditorium in Portland with the Portland Youth Junior Orchestra.

    Jesse Nathan Dearman Mills is the son of Cheryl Dearman Mills and Wesley Mills of Wells. Jesse is the Salutatorian of the Class of 2012. This fall, he will attend Vassar College but has not yet decided on a major of study. His major activities and/or awards received while at Wells High School include being a member of the WHS Chapter of the National Honor Society and the math team. Jesse is the recipient of the Dartmouth College book award and was named a finalist in the prestigious National Merit Scholarship program. He has been a member of the Varsity Soccer team and the tennis team and received the 2012 Maine Principal's Association Principal's Award.

    Logan Victoria Snyder is the daughter of Glenn and Marcy Snyder of Wells. She plans to attend UMass-Amherst to major in Pre-Medicine. Her major activities and/or awards received while at Wells High School include being a member of the WHS Chapter of the National Honor Society, the Class of 2012 Secretary for four years, and a member of Student Council. Logan received a Breakfast of Champions award as well as several academic book awards. She has been a member of the Girls Field Hockey team and the tennis team.

    Panida Theerathampitak is the daughter of Veerawat and Panadda Jan Theerthampitak of Wells. She will attend the University of Delaware but is undecided on a major of study. Her major activities and/or awards received while at Wells High School include being a member of the WHS Marching, Concert, and Jazz Bands; a member of the Book Club and Spanish Club and the Rocket Team. She was Treasurer of the Class of 2012 in 2009 and Vice-President of the Class of 2012 in her sophomore and junior years. Panida is a member of the Student Council and Interact Club. She has received two Student of the Trimester Awards and a Breakfast of Champions award. Panida was the recipient of the Williams College Book award in 2011 and has been awarded several academic book awards throughout her high school career. Panida is a member of the Field Hockey team and the Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field team. She received the Liberty Mutual "Athlete of the Month" award in November 2011 and January 2011 as well as numerous sports team awards.

    Michael Richard Valente is the son of Dawn Valente and Richard Valente of Wells. He plans to attend the University of Central Florida and major in Neuroscience with a concentration in Pre-Med. His major activities and/or awards received while at Wells High School include being Treasurer of the Class of 2012 during his junior and senior years and a member and Treasurer of the WHS Chapter of the National Honor Society. He has received numerous academic book awards and was the recipient of the St. Michael's Book award in 2011. Michael has been named a National Merit Scholarship program finalist.

    Steven Michael Valentino is the son of Michael and Sandra Valentino of Wells. He is planning to attend the University of Maine in Orono and major in Micro-Biology. The major activities and/or awards received while at Wells High School include being a member of the WHS Chapter of the National Honor Society, the Boys Soccer team, the tennis club and the math team. Steven has been the recipient of numerous academic book awards and received honorable mention for his entry into the annual Literary Achievement Award competition. During his junior and seniors years, Steve received the Breakfast of Champions award.
