• The 43rd summer season at the Theater at Monmouth kicks into full swing this week, with the opening of the Moliere comedy "Tartuffe." It previews at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, opens at 7:30 p.m. Friday and continues at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Also on stage is the children's show "The Little Prince," which opened last week and continues through Aug. 17. This week, "The Little Prince" will play at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Looking ahead, Monmouth opens Shakespeare's "Two Gentlemen of Verona" on July 12, Tennessee Williams' "The Glass Menagerie" on July 19 and Shakespeare's "Henry IV, Part I" on July 26.
The theater presents the shows in repertory, with performances of all shows continuing through Aug. 19.

• In Portland and Brunswick, Fenix Theatre Co. is preparing its show of Shakespeare's "Macbeth." The company presents free performances at 6:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturday, July 20 to Aug. 11, at Deering Oaks Park in Portland and at 6 p.m. Thursdays, July 19 to Aug. 9, on the Quad at Bowdoin College.
