Where can I get a good lobster roll? Who’s got the best pizza? Is there a local brew for me out there?

These sort of questions — day and in day out — can wear on a person, making them frustrated and bitter.

Well, be bitter no longer Mainers, your answers are here.

And just in time for summer.

The results of our 26th Annual Readers’ Choice Poll are in, and they will answer all your summer-fun-in-Maine questions. Where to go for a drive-in movie? The poll points you to Saco, Westbrook and Bridgton. Looking for local brew? The poll says try Shipyard, Gritty McDuff’s and Sea Dog, in that order. If you want the best lobster roll, the poll says head for the Lobster Shack in Cape Elizabeth or Red’s Eats in Wiscasset.

The poll has answers in so many areas, from places for brunch, hot dogs or pizza, to the best ice cream, bakeries, or bars. And there will also be helpful hints about tattoo parlors, live music venues, bowling and movie theaters.

We asked readers to fill out our ballots — either in print or online — by May 18, so we could compile the results and print them in time for summer. Which in Maine may only last a few days.

Think of the results as a Maine summer guide, done by Mainers for Mainers (and others). We’ve listed the top vote getter in each category, with contact information, plus the next two vote getters as well. In one case, tattoo parlor, we didn’t get enough responses for a third-place mention. But in most categories, we had more than enough responses to fill out our poll.

We asked people to vote for their favorite local places, with an emphasis on Maine-owned and Maine-run.

So now that the voting and compiling is done, the rest is up to you.

It’s time to use the information the readers’ poll provides to get out and try all that Maine has to offer for yourself.
