Portland Ovations brings the Broadway National Tour of Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” to Merrill Auditorium for three performances, at 7 p.m. Jan. 4 and 1 and 7 p.m. Jan. 5. This version stays true to the Tony Award-winning musical that ran on Broadway from 1999 to 2007. It features lavish sets, costumes and an Academy Award-winning score. It tells the classic story of young Belle and the Beast, a prince trapped in a spell placed by an enchantress. In one form or another, the story has been told since the mid-1700s. Tickets cost $45 to $70, and are available through the Merrill box office and PortTix at 842-0800 or porttix.com. For information, visit portlandovations.org.
