Kevin T. Carroll, Harvy Blanks and Ray Anthony Thomas in the Portland Stage Company production of “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.” The August Wilson play, starring Tina Fabrique in the title role, is set in 1927 Chicago during a recording session for Rainey, a blues singer.
