BATH — The West Island Gallery, 11 Centre St., hosts an exhibition of paintings and drawings by Maine artist Richard Sears though Nov. 24.

The exhibition includes mostly recent work and ranges from local landscapes, still lifes and evocations of snow-thaw patterns and rural Maine scenes. Hours are noon to 6 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.
Sears, a resident of Bath for almost 20 years, taught painting and drawing at the University of Michigan for 35 years. His work has been shown in Maine, Michigan, Iowa and California, and is represented in museums in Michigan and California.
