NEW YORK — After 12 years playing sultry screen vixen Samantha Jones on “Sex and the City,” Kim Cattrall says she’s “letting it all hang out” in her new role as a has-been porn star.

Cattrall gained 20 pounds for the title role in the indie film “Meet Monica Velour,” about a washed up, aging porn star living in a rural Indiana trailer park.

“It was actually kind of a relief,” the 54-year-old actress said Tuesday in an interview.

She said packing on the pounds for “Monica Velour,” which comes out April 8, was her fist break from dieting in 25 years and was “wonderful.”

“We were shooting in Detroit, and there’s a lot of great bars in Detroit,” Cattrall said. “So I ate and I drank for about six weeks.”

Not so wonderful, she admits, was getting back into her strict regimen so she could shoot her next project, Roman Polanski’s “The Ghost Writer,” which was released last year.

Cattrall hit the treadmill and cut out breads, dairy, sweets and most meats to prepare for her role as an assistant to a former British prime minister, played by Pierce Brosnan.

Cattrall said she hopes the stripped-down role in “Monica Velour” will remind people that before Samantha there was Kim, the actress with more than 35 years of varied film, television and theater credits.

“I loved working on ‘Sex and the City.’ It’s a dream job and a great character to play,” she said.

“But before ‘Sex and the City’ I was a working actress, and hopefully I’ll be until I can’t talk or move.”

The Colombian singer’s Twitter site carries a photo of her in the arms of Barcelona football star. It is labeled: “I present my sun to you.” That’s a play on the name of her latest album, “Sale el Sol,” or “The Sun Comes Out.”

The singer’s press office in Colombia confirmed that it is her official Twitter site.

Neither Shakira nor Pique have officially confirmed they are seeing one another.

In January, Shakira announced her separation from Argentine Antonio De la Rua after an 11-year relationship.

Paternity objection too late

LOS ANGELES – A judge says it’s too late for a man to contest nearly $200,000 in unpaid child support for a daughter who was likely fathered by comic Sam Kinison before he died in 1992.

Carl La Bove asked a judge to invalidate an agreement with his ex-wife that required him to make the payments.

Recent DNA tests have shown Kinison likely fathered the child born to La Bove’s ex-wife.

Superior Court Judge Thomas Trent Lewis told La Bove during a brief hearing Tuesday that he was years late in contesting paternity and trying to nullify at least $188,000 in back child support.

The 52-year-old La Bove, a longtime friend of Kinison, says he won’t give up.

Nelson won’t have to sing to pay his fine

EL PASO, Texas — A Texas judge says Willie Nelson won’t have to sing in court to resolve marijuana possession charges – and a suggestion that he do so was a joke.

Hudspeth County Attorney Kit Bramblett had said Nelson could resolve the charges by pleading guilty, paying a fine – and singing “Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain” for the court.

Bramblett said Judge Becky Dean-Walker demanded Nelson appear in court, not plead by mail.

Dean-Walker told The Associated Press she thinks the prosecutor was trying to be funny, “and it got out of hand.”

Nelson was arrested Nov. 26 at a Border Patrol checkpoint.
