Just because you’re vegan doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy egg nog during the holidays.

This nog leaves out the egg and dairy. Not only does this drink taste good, it’s healthy.

Its pecans help reduce cholesterol, are rich in dietary fiber and an excellent source of vitamin E and calcium.

And the dates in this recipe are very good for you and, I’ve learned over the last two years, an important part of a vegan diet. Dates are a good source of many vitamins and minerals, and high in fiber and calcium.

The nice thing about this recipe is that unlike some of the main dishes and desserts I feature in the column, this is not at all time-consuming.

This “nut nog” can be a beverage for the entire family or an adult drink with a shot of rum.
