New Asian market to feature seafood, meat and take-out

Veranda Asian Market, which is being billed as the largest Asian market in Maine, held its grand opening Monday.

The market, located at 695 Forest Ave., is owned by the same family that owns the Veranda Thai and Veranda Noodle Bar restaurants on Veranda Street. The store’s hours will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Sonka Nguyen, one of the owners, said the market has meat and seafood departments, as well as a large selection of imported fruits and vegetables. The building is equipped with a full kitchen, so take-out will be available. Nguyen said the take-out selections include roast pork barbecue, along with some dishes that are similar to what’s found on the menus at the Veranda restaurants.
