Bayside Bowl on Friday can’t be summed up easily, but we’re going to try anyway: Thee Ice Picks, surf music with capes, masks and a theremin; Emperor Napolean and The Visions of Ecstasy, who have been called “bigger than ‘Glee’ and ‘High School Musical’ ”; and Daikaiju, surf-billy explosion. • ART AND THEATER: 'Sum and Substance' preview at Greenhut

THE LITTLEFIELD GALLERY
in Winter Harbor previews its first show of the season with a reception at Greenhut Galleries in Portland. "Sum and Substance" is a collection of colorful geometric work by painter Lori Trembley. The Winter Harbor show opens May 28 and runs through July 6.

• DINING AND DRINK: Rabelais sale for cookbook lovers

BUG LIGHT PARK has an asset that's not even visible: the wind. Kites and the people who love them will revel in it at the Bug Light Kite Festival featuring a candy drop, a "how to fly a kite" workshop and kites for sale. Bug Light will also be open for tours.
