Music and Nightlife: See Badfish for Sublime New Year’s Eve

WANT YOUR NEW YEAR’S Eve to be sublime? Or do you want to simply isten to the tunes of Sublime on New Year’s Eve. Well, for the latter experience, head over to the State Theatre to see Badfish, a tribute band dedicated to the music of Sublime. Big D & The Kids Table will open.

For a suggested $7 donation, you can experience six different shows, followed by a night sky tour and live coverage of the countdown in Times Square.

Music and Nightlife: Phishing at Port City

COULDN’T GET tickets to Phish’s sold-out concert at Madison Square Garden? No worries, the folks at Port City Music Hall will be live-streaming the concert.

Music and Nightlife: ‘Abstraction’ attracts work by 60 artists

RIVER ARTS in Damariscotta exhibits artwork under the title “Abstraction.” The group show features 80 pieces of art by 60 artists from across Maine. The exhibition was curated by Center for Maine Contemporary Art director and curator Suzette McAvoy.

WHEN: On view through Jan. 16; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday to Saturday; 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.

TIME IS running out to see an exhibition by Maine photographer Jym St. Pierre at Curtis Memorial Library in Brunswick.

The photos are from St. Pierre’s series “Maine Landsc[r]apes,” with each image representing a contrast between the perfection of nature and how we use the land.

Et Cetera: Boots on the ground this New Year’s Day

IF ONE OF your New Year’s resolutions is to excercise more, you can get started right away. The Sacopee Valley Health Center in Porter is hosting a New Year’s Day hike, two miles on local snowmobile trails. Hot cocoa and refreshments will be served before the hike.
