Alina Gallo installs painting at PMA

The artist was supposed to be part of museum’s biennial, but took ill

From staff reports

Painter Alina Gallo installed her egg tempera painting, “Aleppo,” on a gallery wall in a hallway at the Portland Museum of Art.

Gallo, who received her master’s from Maine College of Art, was selected for the PMA Biennial, but was ill and could not install her work.

The biennial has come down, but her wall painting will remain on view through Memorial Day in the hallway between the museum gift shop and the McLellan House.

In addition, several pieces of art purchased by the museum from the biennial exhibition, including photos by Jocelyn Lee and Caleb Charland and a painting by Matt Blackwell, are on view in the McLellan House.
