Eat and Run: You Wanna Pizza Me, Yarmouth

From staff reports

YARMOUTH - Some businesses try too hard to find a clever name, and some don't try at all.

Based on a five-star scale

For me, the owners of the pizza place at 365A Main St. in Yarmouth have struck just the right naming balance: You Wanna Pizza Me. The subtitle on the sign is "Dangerously Good Food."

It's funny and it plays on a pop culture phrase most of us are familiar with. But of course a snappy name isn't what pizza lovers will pay money for, so luckily, You Wanna Pizza Me delivers on that count, too.

I got a couple of large pizzas to go at one recent dinner hour.

The space is a cozy, with a counter to sit at while waiting for take-out or if dining alone. I had called to order about 15 minutes before arriving, and my pizzas were just coming out of the oven.

One was a large Greek ($17.49) with spinach, tomato, Feta cheese and Greek olives. The toppings tasted fresh and the Feta cheese was still recognizable, not melted into a blend with other cheeses.

The crust was especially good, a little crisp on the outside and just doughy enough. It held all the Greek's toppings without getting soggy.

The menu includes some speciality pies I had not seen before, including: Garlic Lovers ($13.99 for a large) featuring a butter/garlic spread with extra garlic and extra cheese; Cheeseburger Pizza ($15.49 for a large) featuring ketchup and mustard instead of red sauce, topped with pickles, tomato and hamburger; Saltine ($16.99 for a large) with pepperoni, Feta cheese, Greek olives and bacon; and Bacon Chicken Ranch ($13.99 for a large) with ranch dressing in place of red sauce, with bacon, chicken and mozzarella cheese.

Some of other specialty pies on the menu include Hawaiian, Barbecue Chicken, Buffalo Chicken, Mediterranean and Philly Steak.

A large cheese pizza starts at $10.99, with an additional $1.79 for each topping. I tried a pepperoni pizza, too, and was impressed with the pepperoni because it was neither greasy nor fatty, like some.

The menu also includes a list of some 20 hot subs, ranging from Chicken Stir-fry, Buffalo Chicken and Chicken Souvlaki, to Meatball Parmesan, a Poor Boy and a Steak Bomb.

There are also cold sandwiches and wraps, pasta dinners, salads and chicken tenders.

There's also a kids' menu which includes chicken fingers and fries, $4.50; hot dog and chips, $2.50; grilled cheese and chips, $2.99; and spaghetti with sauce or butter, $2.99.

Because of its location on Yarmouth's quaint Main Street, it's a good place to grab a bite when you're out for a stroll. And because lovely Royal River Park is just around the corner, it's a good place to pick up a picnic lunch as well.

The staff of GO anonymously samples meals for about $10.
