Music and Nightlife: Reverend plays righteous psychobilly

REVEREND HORTON HEAT, man or band? It's both. It's the stage name of musician Jim Heath and his "psychobilly" trio from Dallas. Plus, he/it has an upright bass on stage, and that's just cool.

Music and Nightlife: Soule Monde has Phish-y connections

SOULE MONDE plays an album release show in Portland. The Vermont jam band features Ray Paczkowski and Russ Lawton, who are also members of the Trey Anastasio Band, featuring Phish's frontman.

Art and Theater: Musical gifts shared in free holiday concert

THE DAPONTE STRING QUARTET will present its annual gift to the midcoast with its free Christmas concert. The quartet will be joined by soprano Mary Sullivan, singing Bach arias from "The Magnificat," and will also perform Corelli's "Christmas Concerto" and an arrangement of Tchaikovsky's "Nutcracker Suite."
