PORTLAND — A Munjoy Hill resident who became a YouTube sensation last summer is at it again.

Jeremiah McDonald on Thursday released a prequel to a YouTube video he released July that went viral, sending the 32-year-old artist on a whirlwind tour of interviews with national publications and television shows.

Last summer's viral video, "A conversation with my 12-year-old self," was a touching, humorous, time-warping video where the older McDonald appears to be speaking and arguing with his 12-year-old self through creative video editing.

As of Thursday, that video had more than 8 million views.

There is no creative editing in the prequel, though. The 12-year-old McDonald decides to talk to his 10-year-old self, who appears in a pre-recorded video on a TV screen behind the elder McDonald. They argue over whose show it is and what day of the week it is.

The conversation ends when the elder McDonald tells the younger one to "Shut up, you idiot."

The video then cuts to the 12-year-old McDonald talking to a pre-recorded video of his current self. The segment ends with the opening scene from the viral video.

McDonald released the prequel at around 1:30 p.m. As of 3:30 p.m., it had been viewed 304 times.
