Be A Better Birder

Join Derek Lovitch at the Maine Coastal Islands National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center for a presentation about his book, “How to Be a Better Birder.” Lovitch will share tips for birders of all levels who want to learn how to bird like experts. GPS For Beginners

The Kennebec Estuary Land Trust is hosting a program on GPS. Join KELT staff member Chris Cabot to learn the basics of using a GPS (Global Positioning System). Participants will have an indoor orientation and then venture through Thorne Head Preserve in Bath for infield application of GPS devices and skills. A limited number of GPS units are available for loan during the workshop. No cost. Registration required. Call 442-8400.

AMC Chapter Meeting

7 p.m., April 17, Brunswick

The AMC’s chapter meeting will feature lighthouse keepers Mary Hillary and Greg Guckenburg, who will share their story about being volunteer lighthouse keepers on Sequin Island. The program is at the Curtis Memorial Library at 23 Pleasant St. in Brunswick. The program is free and open to the public. For more information, go to education@amcmaine.org.
