Hike in the Park

2 p.m. in Freeport

Wolfe's Neck Woods State Park offers nature programs year-round every weekend. This week's program focuses on the wonder of Maine's pine tree forest. Meet at the benches at the end of the second parking lot. Free with park admission, which is $1 for ages 5 to 11 and $3 for ages 12 to 64. Call the day of the program for updates, 865-4465.

Snowshoeing At Night

Every Wednesday, Inland Hospital in Waterville leads snowshoe hikes on land owned by the hospital and the city. No charge. Wear warm clothes. Meet at the trail head behind Inland Hospital, 200 Kennedy Memorial Drive. Call 861-3292.

Winter Wildlife

10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Wells

Three of York County's environmental education organizations will team up to celebrate animals and their habitats during Winter Wildlife Day. The Wells Reserve is playing host and offering programs with the help of York County Audubon and the Center for Wildlife. The event is free. Wells Reserve is located at Laudholm Farm off Route 1. Wonders of Winter

6:30 p.m. in Belfast

Mid-Coast Audubon is hosting a presentation by naturalist, educator and Registered Maine Guide Mike Shannon at the Belfast Free Library. Come learn about wildlife in winter from the former director of the Audubon Ecology Camp in Maine. The program is free. For more information, go to www.midcoastaudubon.org or call 644-1077.

FRIDAY

Farm Days

10 to 11:30 a.m.

Come learn about a working farm at Pineland Farms in New Gloucester. Explore the farm and collect eggs, milk a cow, and help the farmers. Cost is $5 per person. Buy tickets at the Welcome Center. Call 688-4800.

SATURDAY

Bird Walks

8 a.m. in Freeport

Free guided walks are offered every Saturday at Freeport Wild Bird Supply. Meet at the store at 541 Route 1. Usually, walks involve a short car-pool trip to a site of seasonal interest. Bring binoculars, or borrow a pair, and come see some birds and learn about their habits. For information, call 865-6000.
