Dr. Michael Pardales has been appointed vice president and chief learning officer at Saint Joseph’s College in Standish, effective July 15.

Pardales has been the dean of education and human services at Canisius College in Buffalo, N.Y., and is the author of numerous scholarly papers and is a noted professor.

He is a graduate of Michigan State University, where he earned his bachelor’s and master’s in philosophy and holds a doctorate in educational psychology from the university. He also earned a master’s of education in philosophy for children from Montclair State University.

Bangor Theological Seminary will hold its 194th commencement at 2 p.m. Saturday at Gracie Theatre at Husson University, Bangor. The ceremony is the final graduation for the seminary as a degree-granting institution. Diplomas will be presented to 47 students who comprise the final senior class. Dr. Daniel Aleshire, the executive director of the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada, will be the graduation speaker. An ordained minister, Aleshire served on the faculty of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary from 1978 to 1990 and was a research scientist at Search Institute in Minneapolis.
