Religion Calendar

Saturday

Flea market and bake sale, 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Lovell United Church of Christ, Route 5, Center Lovell.

Holy Grounds Coffee House, 6:30 p.m., featuring Brian Patricks, Bob McKillop and Yes We Kin (aka Cam Jones). Church of the Holy Spirit, 1047 Congress St., Portland. Doors open at 6:15 p.m. and food is available for a small charge. There is no cover but donations for the artists are accepted.

Sunday

Anniversary celebration, 11 a.m., 100th anniversary Mass at St. John the Baptist Church, 37 Pleasant St., Brunswick. A luncheon for the community will follow and students from St. John's Catholic School will present their annual stage production starting at 2 p.m. at the school. Rejoicing Spirits, 4 p.m., special worship service for persons with cognitive or developmental disabilities, followed by fellowship and supper. Held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 612 Main St., Westbrook. Wheelchair accessibility and ASL interpreter provided.

Service with Celtic and Irish music, 5:15 p.m., with Terry Foster, keyboards, and Aaron Pettengill, violin. Cathedral Church of St. Luke, 143 State St., Portland.

Taize Prayer Service, 7 p.m., Emmaus Lutheran Church, 265 Middle Road, Falmouth.

Tuesday

"A Time for Peace," noon to 1 p.m., silent interfaith vigil. Individuals may contemplate, meditate or pray as they wish. State Street Church, 159 State St., Portland. For more information, call 774-6396.

Thursday

Chrism Mass, 5:45 p.m., annual Mass celebrated by Bishop Richard Malone with blessing of anointing oils. Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 307 Cumberland Ave., Portland.

March 23

Yard and bake sale, 9 a.m. to noon, Standish Congregational Church, Oak Hill Road, Standish.

"Victory in Jesus," 9:30 a.m. to noon, free seminar for women with speaker Michelle Neujahr. Free lunch is included and reservations can be made by calling 353-8453 or email stmattlisb@gwi.net. St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, 496 Lisbon St./Route 196, Lisbon

Path of the Shaman, noon to 6 p.m., workshop with Marc Felix, Ph.D. Held at Bhakti in Motion at 155 Brackett St., Portland. Fee is $75. Call 542-1847 for more information or to register.

Egg hunt, 1 to 3 p.m., for children in grades K to 5 with an adult. There will also be a presentation featuring "Resurrection Eggs," a short movie, and crafts. Each child will receive a set of Resurrection Eggs and a book to take home. Held at First Baptist Church, 185 Main St., Freeport. Refreshments will be served. "The Story," 2 p.m., free Easter musical presented by the church choir at First Baptist Church, 360 Canco Road, Portland. A second performance will be held at 6 p.m. March 24. Call 773-3123 for more information.

Variety show and silent auction, 6:30 p.m. with performers of all ages. Silent auction benefits the Youth Experiences Fund. Congregational Church of Wells, 1695 Post Road/Route 1.

Wings and Things Spring Fling, with supper and fashion show from 5 to 6 p.m. followed by sale of items from the Wings & Things Clothes Closet. Casco Village Church, 941 Meadow Road/Route 121, Casco. Supper is $7 for adults and $4 for children under 8. Family maximum is $20.
