WARREN, Vt. – A broken chairlift at a Vermont ski resort stranded more than 100 skiers who had to be evacuated from the lift.

A Sugarbush Resort spokesman said 132 people were stranded when the Heaven’s Gate lift came to a halt Saturday afternoon due to a broken flange.

Patrick Brown said the Sugarbush ski patrol used a rope system to get rescue chairs up to skiers and lower people down one at a time.

The ordeal took about two hours. Nobody was injured.

Brown said the stranded skiers will get a free day pass for their troubles.
