SKOWHEGAN — Large crowds are expected as the oldest fair in Maine opens its doors for its 194th year.
The Skowhegan State Fair kicks off today at the Skowhegan State Fairgrounds. It continues for 10 days of rides, animal exhibits and competitions, music, demolition derbies, harness racing and other entertainment.
The fair is billed as the nation's longest continuously operating agricultural fair.
It draws up to 100,000 people a year.
