Sgt. Vicente Morris, left, and officer Laura Drouin of the Augusta Police Department guard the entrance to a Crosby Street apartment Wednesday night where a person was found dead. Police said they are investigating the incident as a suspicious death.

Deputy Chief Jared Mills of the Augusta Police Department said one person was found dead following a report at about 8 p.m. Police would not say whether the person was a man or woman.

Another person was taken by ambulance from the apartment to the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta.

Crosby Street was closed to the public while police investigated the death. Maine State Police were also on the scene assisting Augusta police.
