State, county and local police arrested three people Tuesday night suspected of trafficking heroin in Sagadahoc County, according to a statement by the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.

Arrested was Derek Elliot, 21, of Brunswick; Joshua Neisius, 25, of West Bath; and Dwan Russell, 25, of Topsham.
The charges are the result of a month-long investigation that was triggered when agents and police noticed an influx in the county of the powerful opiate.
The MDEA said the three suspects knew each other, but were selling the drug independently. At the time of their arrests, Elliot was in possession of one gram, Russell with two grams and Neisius with six grams.
Police said the estimated street value of the seized drug is $11,000. All three suspects are being held at Two Bridges Jail in lieu of bail.
