One dead following shooting in Cushing

CUSHING – Authorities have confirmed that one person is dead following a shooting Thursday night in the coastal community of Cushing.

Steve McCausland, spokesman for the Maine State Police, said the victim is a man. A second man is being held and questioned about the shooting, which took place at a home on Far Meadow Road around 8 p.m.

A team of state police detectives has been sent to Cushing. They will be working in conjunction with deputies from the Knox County Sheriff’s Department.

McCausland said the name of the victim would not be released Thursday night as police attempted to contact his relatives.
