BANGOR — The 130th season of racing at Bangor Raceway begins on horse racing's biggest day — the running of the Kentucky Derby.

Bangor Raceway opens on Saturday with a special 2:30 p.m. post time. The track will be open from 1 to 8 p.m. for simulcast wagering and watching, including the 6:24 p.m. post time for the Kentucky Derby.

Michael Hopkins, director of raceway operations at Hollywood Casino Bangor, says the track is prepped and ready, and the drivers have been anxious for opening day.

Following opening day, racing continues every Monday, Tuesday and Friday through July 20, with Saturday race cards added July 13 and 20, and special 4th of July racing on Independence Day.
