BERWICK — A Berwick man remained hospitalized Sunday night at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston after he lost control of his motorcycle on Guinea Road in Berwick Saturday afternoon.

Sgt. Jeff Scott said the hospital would not release Robert V. Cushing Jr.’s condition, only disclosing that he was a patient at the hospital.

Scott said the 46-year-old Berwick resident was operating a 2005 Harley Davidson motorcycle on Guinea Road near James Way when he veered left, hit some dirt and lost control of his bike.

Rescue crews responded to the single vehicle crash around 3:30 p.m. Saturday and transported Cushing to Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover, N.H. Cushing eventually had to be airlifted to Boston with head and shoulder injuries. He had not been wearing a helmet.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, Scott said.
