LEWISTON — Maine's Catholic diocese is paying tribute to police, firefighters and paramedics during the church's annual "Blue Mass."
Monsignor Marc Caron is giving thanks and bestowing his blessings on Maine's emergency responders during Sunday services at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul in Lewiston.
Members of public safety agencies have been invited to attend the Mass in uniform, color guards will be on hand and the Maine Public Safety Pipe and Drum Corps will perform outside the church before and after the Mass.
The annual event takes place each year on the weekend closest to Sept. 11 in recognition of the response to the terrorist attacks 11 years ago.
