BARNSTABLE, Mass. — A Boston man charged with fatally shooting the mother of his unborn child was ordered held without bail Wednesday after pleading not guilty to murder and other charges.

Quoizel Wilson, 35, was arraigned a day after he was arrested in connection with the July 2010 death of Trudie Hall, 23, of Nantucket.

Hall was about four months pregnant, and Wilson is thought to be the father, Cape and Islands District Attorney Michael O’Keefe said. Both were married to other people at the time.

No additional details emerged about the case at Wednesday’s arraignment, or what led investigators to Wilson, although O’Keefe said there is a “strong and compelling case against the defendant.”

Hall was reported missing by her family in July 2010 when she didn’t return home from a trip to Cape Cod.

Although police found Hall’s car, her body was not discovered until April 2012 by a man walking his dog in the woods of Barnstable. She had been shot several times.

Wilson lived on Cape Cod at the time. He was questioned by police after Hall disappeared and his home was searched several days later, but he was not arrested. He’s also charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and unlawful disposal of a body.

Robert Galibois, Wilson’s lawyer, agreed to have his client held without bail until a Jan. 14 court appearance. Wilson denies any involvement in Hall’s slaying, Galibois said, adding that he has not seen any evidence the two were involved in a relationship.
