A 15-year-old Carthage boy killed in an offroad motorcycle accident was identified by wardens today as Tyla J. Thibodeau

The boy was killed Sunday night when a coil of rope he was carrying while riding a dirt bike became entangled in the rear wheel, according to a news release from the Maine Warden Service.

Thibodeau, who was on Smith Road near a friend’s house shortly after 8 p.m., was not wearing a helmet when the accident happened, according to John MacDonald, warden service spokesman.

Emergency medical service personnel pronounced the boy dead at the scene and his body was taken to Meader and Son Funeral Home in Rumford, for examination by the medical examiner, according to the release.

The case is being reviewed by the Franklin County district attorney and is still under investigation.
